New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Rope Access (Elementary Rope Skills Level 3)

Overview: Vertical Horizonz New Zealand offers this full qualification. We are able to conduct this training at our premises or yours, as well as arrange suitable facilities throughout the country.

The standard delivery period is 9 working days over 8 months with available off job training days with the programme. This qualification has been written to provide the Industrial Rope Access Industry with a nationally recognised qualification and provide the industrial rope access sector with people who have attained basic on-rope vertical skills using constructed anchors. The qualification is an entry point for people who aim to work in industrial rope access roles such as rope access technicians, electricians with rope access, and industrial abseilers. Theoretical sessions will be conducted during the course. You will need to be physically fit to pass the practical components of the assessment as you will be spending the majority of the time on ropes carrying out practical tasks and skill sets.

Overview:  Vertical Horizonz New Zealand offers this full qualification. We are able to conduct this training at our premises.

The standard delivery period is 10 working days over 12 months with on job training also required..  The New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Rope Access (Level 4) is to provide the industrial rope access sector with people who have attained intermediate level skills to perform industrial rope access work. Graduates of this qualification will be able to lead industrial rope access jobs independently. Rope access refers to safe methods of working at height where ropes and associated equipment are used to gain access to and from the workplace, and to be supported there. It includes inspection and testing, maintenance and repair, cleaning and painting, geotechnical and construction.

Skills Assessment

Overview: Vertical Horizonz New Zealand has IRAANZ approved assessors available to conduct COCs. We are able to conduct this assessment at our premises.

The NZQA Unit Standards require that you be in employment before enrollment so that you can achieve the hours on rope required. However, if you are not qualified, how do you get a job?

The answer is the IRAANZ Entry-level COC.  This COC has no prerequisites and is ideal for any candidate with reasonable fitness and an urge to work in the completely unique environment of Industrial Rope Access.  Attend Training, Pass assessment, apply for Entry Level COC, Apply for work. You are now on your way to earning your qualification.

IRAANZ COC Level 3 & 4

Skills Assessment

Overview: Vertical Horizonz New Zealand has IRAANZ approved assessors available to conduct COCs. We are able to conduct this assessment at our premises.

All NZQA qualified rope access operators and technicians are able to obtain an Industrial Rope Access Association of New Zealand (IRAANZ) Certificate of Competence (COC), which identifies their current proficiency to work in New Zealand. Additionally, rope access operators with internationally recognised qualifications may also be able to obtain an IRAANZ COC.  A COC is current for three years and can be easily renewed with proof of logged hours in the industry and passing a skills assessment.

IRATA Rope Access

IRATA Rope Access (All Levels)

Overview: Vertical Horizonz New Zealand also holds IRATA international membership and can deliver IRATA training at our Albany location in Auckland.

The rope access course developed by the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) over the last 25 years has become Internationally recognised and is the chosen means of access for multiple sectors including the oil, gas and wind industries. The course is a week long with an independent assessment at the end.
